Rock Against Reagan

Needless to say you are well aware of the timely demise of our once fearless leader, no need for me to tune you into all of that. This won't be a laundry list of all of the problems caused by Reagan. In fact this will be just the opposite - a celebration of the revolutionary music inspired by anger and outrage towards the soulless evil questionable policies of Ronald Reagan.

Highlights include

the 1983 "Rock Against Reagan" concert in DC and tours featuring the Dead Kennedys, MDC, DRI, Crucifucks, and Minutemen amongst others

Reagan Youth - 1984's self titled 12" is a must have. In your face lyrics and graphics, great songs, filthy guitar sound. A classic.

Let them Eat Jellybeans - 1981 comp of punk and new wave on Alternative tentacles. side 1 is especially killer.

Dayglow Abortions - "Feed Us A Fetus" - cover art is especially repugnant, music reflects the same sentiment. Gross out buzzsaw punk from the early 80's. Canadian to boot!

The Proletariat - the American equivalent of Crass, only with actual musical talent. Melded socialist lyrics with soaring guitar melodies and riffs. Dangerously underrated and long underappreciated. Discography "Voodoo Economics and Other American Tragedies" is a must have

There was plenty of additional discontent in the '80's - the above is a quick listing of those that "named names" ( and came to mind ). Check out Kill from the Heart or Flex! for nice breakdown of the 80's hardcore and punk scenes

For your listening pleasure:

Reagan Youth - Reagan Youth
Crucifucks - Hinkley Had a Vision
DRI - Reaganomics
Dead Kennedys - We Have A Bigger Problem Now
Minutemen - If Reagan Played Disco
DOA - Fucked Up Ronnie
